Contraindications for Microblading and Lip Blushing
General Contraindications (Applicable to Both)
• Pregnancy or breastfeeding: Hormonal changes can affect healing and results.
• Active skin conditions: Such as eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, or severe acne in the treatment area.
• Blood disorders: Conditions like hemophilia or other bleeding disorders.
• Keloid or hypertrophic scarring history: Risk of abnormal scar formation.
• Allergies to pigments, lidocaine, or other topical anesthetics.
• Active infection: Including colds, cold sores, or any systemic infection.
• Immune-compromised conditions: Such as HIV/AIDS or undergoing chemotherapy.
• Recent cosmetic procedures: Botox, fillers, or other treatments near the area within 4 weeks.
• Medications: Use of blood thinners (e.g., warfarin, aspirin), retinoids, or steroids.
• Diabetes: Poor wound healing may increase risks.
• Skin irritations: Open wounds, sunburn, or rashes near the treatment area.
• Heart conditions: Including pacemakers or uncontrolled blood pressure.
• Epilepsy: Risk of seizures during treatment.
• Recent use of Accutane (isotretinoin): Must be discontinued for at least 6-12 months.
• Autoimmune diseases: Such as lupus or rheumatoid arthritis, may impair healing.
• Psychological disorders: Body dysmorphic disorder or unrealistic expectations.
• Under 18 years old (in most areas).
Specific to Microblading
• Oily skin: May result in less defined or blurred strokes.
• Previous permanent makeup: Existing pigment may alter results.
• Seborrheic dermatitis: Affects pigment retention.
• Thyroid conditions: Can impact pigment retention and healing.
Specific to Lip Blushing
• Active cold sores or herpes simplex virus: Treatment may trigger an outbreak; antiviral medication is recommended prior to the procedure.
• Lip fillers: Wait at least 4-6 weeks after filler treatment.
• Dry or chapped lips: Can lead to poor pigment retention and healing.
